Call for volunteers for Front Space

The project to construct a new area for dry goods in the Co-op is entering its final stages. In the spirit of the co-operative movement, the goal has been for members contribute as much skills, time, experience and sweat to the efforts as possible, helping keep costs down. We are looking for volunteers with appropriate skills and experience to give some time toward the final push.

AGM welcomes new Co-ordinating Body

Dublin Food Co-op Co-ordinating Body 2010-2011 Dublin Food Co-op's 2010 AGM was held on the evening of Thursday 25th March. Minutes will be circulated to all members shortly.

We welcome the incoming Co-ordinating Body - and especially its five new members - and thank those that stood down for their contributions.

Fairtrade Fortnight Events

Dublin Food Co-op marked Fairtrade Fortnight with a number of events and used the opportunity to give added profile to our extensive range of fairtrade produce, whose sales raise the income of producers in the developing world.

Oscar González and Hella AlikuruOn Saturday 27th February, we were delighted to welcome Hella Alikuru and Oscar González to speak about their experience of the positive impact of Fair Trade in the developing world. Hella's talk focused on her experience as Fair Trade International Regional Coordinator for East Africa, a role she combines with representing the International Union of Food and Agricultural Workers. Oscar discussed the benefits that fair trade certification brings to his coffee co-operative in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, for which he acts as Communications Director.

Co-op members rally for Haiti

Co-op members raised €1,077 on Saturday 16th January in solidarity with those impacted by the earthquake in Haiti. It was a wonderful response and we thank everyone for their contributions.

The money was donated to Médecins Sans Frontierès who had around 800 staff quickly on the ground in the aftermath of the disaster.
