Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), the Fairtrade movement addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.
Dublin Food Co-op is a long-standing supporter of Fairtrade principles and Fairtrade produce.
We sell a particularly extensive range of coffee and all of it carries the Fairtrade mark.
Types of Fairtrade products stocked by Dublin Food Co-op are listed below...
In addition to our support for produce carrying the Fairtrade mark, the rules of Dublin Food Co-op commit us to:
"discriminate positively in favour of countries which uphold basic human rights, when importing wholefoods".
